4. Visit and Look for a Job
If you visit the US on a travel visa, you can legally look for work. You just can’t actually work or receive money. If you do get a job offer, you must then leave the US and apply through the proper channels.
It is generally a good idea to apply for a visa before you get a job as it generally takes three to five weeks or as long as eight months to work your way through the US visa application system.
